As we mark Mental Health Awareness Week from Monday 12 May – Sunday 18 May, Ashmore City is proud to shine a light on an issue that touches so many lives. Looking after the mental health of our community, including our hardworking tradies, contractors, staff and shoppers, is something we care deeply about. As a proud, community-minded Centre, we believe in supporting initiatives that make a real difference in people’s lives.
You may have spotted some of our contractors around the Centre, like the team from AC-Tec Services proudly wearing their bright, bold TradeMutt shirts. These shirts are called ‘Conversation Starters’ and they’re designed to do exactly that: get people talking about mental health and make it easier to start a conversation that could really matter.
TradeMutt is more than just a clothing brand – it’s a movement. Every shirt sold helps fund TIACS (This Is A Conversation Starter), a free and confidential mental health support service for tradies, truckies, farmers and blue-collar workers. Thanks to TradeMutt and its supporters, over 4,192 hours of free mental health counselling have already been provided across Australia.
Mental health is a cause close to the hearts of many here at Ashmore City, and we’re proud to stand behind initiatives like TIACS that break down barriers, open up conversations and offer real support when it’s needed most.
If you or someone you know could use a chat, TIACS offers a free call or text service, making it easy to reach out to a professional counsellor.
